Tilly's latest skirt pattern "Arielle" has arrived and we're delighted to be a stockist. Tilly Walne's patterns are designed to be easy for the beginner sewist to follow and funky enough to appeal to your inner fashionista! The unlined version is perfect for a beginner or you can try the luxury lined version if you have a bit of experience under your belt.
We thought we'd help you craft your perfect Arielle and have together some fabric recommendations that will work perfectly. Read on and get inspired!
The great news is that Arielle is really versatile and works with a variety of fabrics. Tilly says "stretch cotton, sateen, denim, gabardine, brocade, suiting, pincord, lighter weight canvas or wools. Choose something with enough body to hold the shape, but not too thick or the darts will be bulky. A touch of stretch would be a bonus"
This funky geometric cotton sateen has a bit of stretch and would be a perfect match for Arielle. This comes in green and pink and we also have a geometric square pattern to choose from. Have a nosey here here.
Stretch denim with a polka dot? Oh yes indeed! I think this might be my Arielle all sorted. Find polka dot stretch denim here
Wouldn't this black and white striped linen look canvas make a striking Arielle? If you had the stripes vertically it'd be slimming too. Stripey canvas is this way
Want to stand out from the crowd? This funky zebra print canvas is one of our most commented upon fabrics and will definitely turn heads. Stock up your zebras here
Want to keep it yellow? This designer textured canvas has a raised weave and is very tactil.
Cotton drill would work brilliantly for Arielle and it's available in a rainbow of colours (and some prints!) Have a read of my drill fabric guide here
